Weekend of 08/17/2008 - Tiburon & San Rafael : Beautiful moon this weekend. On Friday I went to the 'Tiburon Uplands Nature Preserve' (parked on Heathcliff Dr.) where I saw a beautiful sunset and the fog rolling in the city, followed by the moonrise. On Saturday I took a few pictures on the Ferry Terminal in Larkspur and then I went to the 'John F McInnis Park' (on Smith Ranch Rd) and took a few more photos. Had to cut it short after almost bumping into a skunk for the second time!

Drakes Landing and Larkspur Ferry : Beautiful clear nights with warm temperature - perfect nights for shooting!
On Tuesday I went nearby on the path where I walk with Anita (Drakes Landing). On Wednesday I went to the Larkspur Ferry. Unfortunately Anita was out of town - she would have loved the weather! But we talked on the cell while I was taking the photos and it was almost like she was with me :-)

Yosemite at night - April 2008 : Yosemite under a full moon is magical. Unfortunately the Nikon D70 has a problem with the sensor where it creates this purple haze over the top left side.... I do not recommend this camera to anyone that wants to take long exposure night photos. I hope they fixed this problem on the newest models!!! But I do recommend everyone to go to Yosemite when there is a full moon!!! It is AMAZING!!!!

Lunar Ecclipse Aug. 2007 : I crawled out of bed at 3:20 am to take these photos outside my apartment :-) Then crawled back in, still sleepy...

It turns out it is really difficult to find the right setting to capture the ecclipsed moon.... Either it was too slow and the moon would move blurring the picture, or it was too fast and it would under expose.... From about 30 photos I was able to save just a few.... I finished using my small Canon Powershot S2 IS since it has a great zoom and with it I was able to get more details. But since the zoom was part digital it did make the picture a bit pixelated. Nice colors, huh?

Pier 7 in San Francisco : Another session with the Alumni of the Night Photography class - they are cool :-) This time we were in SF's Pier 7. It was supposed to be full moon but there was a cloud cover so thick that we didn't even know where the moon was - not a single spec of moonlight passed through the clouds!!!! No problem - the city gave us great photo opportunities! :-)

Mill Valey - Heron Drive : Just a fast test of the new 18-200mm lenses. Awesome lenses, very clear, nice zoom. This shot was at a small park at the end of Heron Drive in Mill Valley (behind the Strawberry Plaza).
For curious Google-Earth'ers the coordinates are: 37 52' 40.65 N, 122 29' 47.17 W :-)

Set 4 : This was our first meeting outside the College of Marin. We went to the Marin Headlands where the teacher, Tim, showed us several tricks with lights. Very cool stuff and a lot of fun!!!!

However I found out there is some problem with my camera's sensor - the upper right gets purplish... I also attached the lens hood wrong so it appeared on the lower left and upper right as two black blobs... Bummer...
